What is it?
A Pharmacy Technician is a certified healthcare professional who dispenses prescription medication to customers or other health professionals. Usually working alongside a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician most commonly works in a retail drug store, but also works within a hospital or nursing home, and even an insurance company or drug manufacturer. This is a high-growth career path as new advancements in medicine are constantly being created for our aging population.
What will I do?
Pharmacy Technicians measure amounts of medication for prescriptions, and package and label them for customers. They collect and enter customer information into their electronic medical records, and work with insurance companies to facilitate payment. To help patients understand how and when to take their medication, Pharmacy techs might consult with patients on the phone or in person.
