PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The DHS Family Community Resource Center in Lake County helps individuals meet basic needs, cope with illness, emergencies, and other services.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (formerly Food Stamps) helps low-income people and families buy the food they need for good health.
Temporary Assistance for needy Families (TANF)
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program provides temporary financial assistance for pregnant women and families with one or more dependent children. TANF provides financial assistance to help pay for food, shelter, utilities, and expenses other than medical.
Supportive Services
Participants receive supportive services for transportation, childcare and a job search allowance by the Illinois Department of Human Services. Once a participant obtains employment, they are eligible for additional supportive services related to employment expenses and job retention support.
Medical
Medicaid and All Kids cover health care for low-income people of all ages in Illinois.
