PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The mission of the Waukegan Housing Authority is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a suitable living environment free from discrimination for low-income families, very low-income families, persons with disabilities, or the elderly. The Waukegan Housing Authority manages Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV), previously known as Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.

Family Self Sufficiency Program (FSS)

The FSS Program is a voluntary program for participants who receive HUD Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Rental Assistance or living in Public Housing and wish to improve their financial situation. The program emphasizes employment as well as education and training in order to enable a higher degree of economic self-sufficiency.
